Training Programs


We offer a unique curriculum designed by director, Gina Michael. This curriculum is made up of Beginner, Intermediate and Advanced programs designed to work specifically at the level necessary for each individual dancer.

Beginner Program

Commitment (1 day per week. 2 hours per session. Ages 12+)
This program is catered to beginner dancers who will be introduced to the foundations of dance and music theory with a strong focus on hip hop/street styles. It is a great starting point for those looking to learn to dance or are interested in developing their abilities. 
This is a yearly program (4x 10-week terms), after which you are eligible to move up to the development program, pending a successful audition. 
Performance Opportunities
Beginner Program students have the opportunity to perform at the  Annual Ascendant End of Year Showcase.

Intermediate Program

Commitment (1 day per week. 2.5 hours per session. Ages 12+)
This program is catered to intermediate level dancers. Here we delve deeper into movement quality, grooves, musicality and many other elements of dance. We focus on performance, confidence building and more. We also integrate workout programs, tailored to build the strength and flexibility required to elevate their dance ability. This program includes a wide range of hip hop foundation teachers and other choreographers to encourage vocabulary of movement and versatility. 
Performance Opportunities
Intermediate Program students have the opportunity to perform at the Annual Ascendant End of Year Showcase as well as other community events throughout the year. 
International/National Choreographers 
A variety of International/National choreographers are brought in each term to teach a specialised class for the students. 

Advanced Program

Commitment  (2 days per week. 1 x 2.5 hours per session 1 x 2 hours per session. Ages 12+)
This program is catered to intermediate/advanced level dancers training at an advanced level. This incorporates the foundations of hip/hop street styles and other styles at the highest level with a strong focus on the athleticism behind the movement. The advanced program is designed both, for dancers pursuing a career in dance and dancers who just want to train and develop their skill set at an elite level. 
Performance Opportunities
Advanced Program students have the opportunity to perform at the Annual Ascendant End of Year Showcase as well as other community events throughout the year.
This is the only team that can audition for the competition/travel team.
International/National Choreographers 
A variety of International/National choreographers are brought in each term to teach a specialised class for the students. 

Competition/ Travel & Performance Team 

The primary competition and travel team can only be auditioned for by students in the advanced program. However, students from the development program may be offered a place on the team.

This team is designed to offer opportunities to dancers who either want to pursue dance as a career or experience elite level training and competition within Australia and internationally.
